2024 Sanitary Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project

In order to maintain the sanitary sewer collection system and continue to provide high quality wastewater service to Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District 81 (District), the District authorized the cleaning and televising of a portion of the District’s sanitary sewer pipes in accordance with the District’s Capital Improvement Program.  The project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2024.

The scope of work includes cleaning and televising approximately 33,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer collection lines ranging from 8-inch in diameter to 15-inch in diameter. The project also includes the inspection of 178 sanitary sewer manholes. The videos will be reviewed by the District Engineer to determine the condition of the system and identify any maintenance issues.  If there are issues identified, the District plans to rehabilitate the affected pipes and manholes as part of the Capital Improvement Program.  The contractor, Kleen Environmental, LLC (Kleen) will provide notification to all affected residents and customers of the District including placing door hangers a minimum of 48 hours and not more than 72 hours before work is to commence in the affected area.  The door hanger will provide schedule and contact information plus instructions for actions needed to be performed by residents and customers in preparation for the cleaning and televising work.

In performance of the work, Kleen will access the sanitary sewer via the sanitary sewer manholes.  The manholes and pipes are located predominately in the front of lots in the following sections:

  • Weston Lakes Sections 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, & 19
  • Fairway Villas
  • Bradford on the Bend Section 1

Storm Water Management Program

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (the “TCEQ”) plans to issue the renewed Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System General Permit No. TXR040000 (the “General Permit”) this year to regulate the quality of storm water conveyed through public storm sewer systems. Fort Bend County MUD 81 (the “District”) will be required to comply with this renewed General Permit for 5 years and will require the preparation of annual reports outlining the actions completed by the District to regulate the quality of storm water in its storm sewer system.

The District has authorized Quiddity Engineering, its current engineering consultant, to develop a Storm Water Management Program to ensure these regulations are met and are properly documented. Quiddity will create clear, specific and measurable goals that meet the General Permit’s requirements for storm water quality regulation to be followed by all District consultants.

Once prepared, the annual reports will be posted on the District’s website for public record and Quiddity anticipates completion of the Annual Report for Permit Year 1 to be no later than March 30, 2025.
